Consulting and Support for Executives in Instituting Company Innovation Strategy

Situation

Thomas Alva Edison, one of the greatest innovators in history (and inventor of the light bulb along with 2000 other patents), described his innovation work with the words: "1% inspiration, 99% perspiration." The majority of companies today confirm the truth of this statement. Often it is not the ideas themselves that are lacking, but rather the implementation. Sound concepts don't "make it on the street." Repeatedly they fail for want of a quick and affordable possibility for market testing.

Solution

For this reason, the 2b AHEAD ThinkTank offers its customers the expertise of the innovators in its network. In order to quickly develop new ideas and to implement them simply, companies need flexible units that are nimble and agile. These small company units work largely independent of established structures. The team members are recruited from the staff of various departments and are released from their conventional duties for periods of time. The team works together with, but spatially separated from, the rest of the company in implementing the design. They receive their own budget (and budget accountability) as well as active support from management in the form of a senior manager who aids the team as an adviser. Experts from the 2b AHEAD ThinkTank support and coach customers in the establishment of these teams. Our specialists combine two key aspects in this work: on the one hand, the entrepreneurial experience of startup founders, and on the other, management qualifications gained through years of experience in major groups or corporations.

Outcome

Through these groups, prototypes are developed from the conceptual phase and tested on the market in the shortest possible time. They then pass through business model formation during various phases in which it is possible to repeatedly test whether or not the model is feasible and should be continued. Our experts direct this process through their coaching and support.
